I live in the Trentino province while I work in Alto Adige (South Tyrol), so when I need to be in the office, I have to commute. As I do it regularly, I bought travel passes for both provinces: if I lived in Trento or further north, just South Tyrolian pass would be enough, but I live further south, so I had to buy the one for Trentino as well.
Recently I realized that I don't use my Trentino Trasporti card to the fullest, so I decided to explore the province while the card is valid.

Last weekend I went to Mezzocorona - a small town about 15 km north of Trento and about 5 km from the South Tyrol border. It is also a northernmost train station of Trentino, meaning it is the last station where the Trentino Trasporti card is valid, or the first depending on where you are traveling. Although I saw the Trentino ticket validators also in Salorno - the next station when travelling north, which is the southernmost train station in South Tyrol - so now I don't know what to think...
I came to the town by a Verona-Bolzano train, which I take quite regularly, so I passed the station a lot of times, just never stopped to explore. It turned out that the station is quite far from the town centre, about 15-20 minutes walk. But the walk is nice: as any Trentino town, Mezzocorona is surrounded by mountains, so while walking, one can and definitely will enjoy the gorgeous views.

It was already lunch time when I arrived, so the first thing I did when I reached the centre, was visiting a bar, where I had a nice tramezzino, followed by a brioche and a black tea.
After, I walked around the centre, dropped in at the park to read a bit (it was quite sunny, so I wanted to sit out the sunniest hours in the shadow).

At about 5 pm, when the sun was already not as bright, I went to visit the highlight of the town, probably the sight that people come to visit the town for - Monte Mezzocorona.
You can take a cable car to reach it, as it is quite high up. It is also possible to hike there, but it is very steep, so if you decide on that route, be prepared to be out of breath. The cable car is a highlight itself: it has a tiny cabin which only fits 7 people, so if you come to Mezzocorona during high season, you need to be ready to wait in a queue. There are plans to renovate the cable car to extend its capacity to 25 people but there are no specific dates on where it will happen (at least I didn't find any), so for now 7 people and queue it is.
The way up takes about 3 minutes, and the views both during the ride and from the mountain are just breathtaking! They are certainly worth the wait.

Apart from that, there are multiple hiking trails, hotels where you can spend the night or have lunch/dinner/apperitivo, a suspension bridge, which I didn't dare to visit (I have a slight fear of heights, so it would have been quite scary to cross that bridge) and a recently opened skyview, from which you can enjoy the view on the town and mountains once more.

I spent about half of the day in the town and I think it was enough to visit everything it has to offer, but I think I would like to come back and try out some hiking trails, there are a few more sights on the way.
